did apply to the imperial rule. He did need the
conscent of the all-powerful guild for his enthronment,
and he also came in some sort of agreement with
the Bene Gesserit,
who would give him a B.G. trained wife.

had to resign in favor of his daughter who would
marry Paul Muad'dib Atreides. Thus the Atreides
family where to rise to the throne. The bloodline
would be carried on by the son of Paul, Leto
Atreides, who was to rule the empire for 1000
years in Children
of Dune and
God Emperor of Dune.
